Nada “Nadia” Canty, 92, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, with loving family by her side.

Nadia was born to Darrel and Blanche Biles. She was one of two children they raised in Pepin, Wisconsin. She lived a vibrant life, having joined the Women’s Army Corp in 1951 and trained as a cryptologist in the Signal Corp, then living and working internationally after her military service in both France and Panama. She returned to the United States in 1966 and studied at the University of South Maine where she earned a dual master’s degree.

Nadia spent the last 26 years of her life living in Pennsylvania with her husband William J. Canty Lt. Colonel, Army (Ret.). She deeply enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking. She adored her pets. Nadia will be remembered by her loving and devoted husband, 11 children, 19 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is reunited in rest by her parents, her daughter Laurie A. Reinacher, and brother John “Jack” Biles. With an immense family tree consisting of both blood and bonds formed from the heart, Nadia’s reach was extensive, and she was cherished and appreciated by many.

Nadia will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
