Myriam Melendez, 72, of Newport News, Virginia and formerly of High Street, Lancaster, and Lebanon, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Ramon and Antonia Luna. She was the loving wife of Castor Melendez and they were married for 48 years. In her earlier years, Myriam worked as a service aide at Conestoga View Nursing Center, Lancaster. She enjoyed knitting and loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are five children: Jose “Pucho” and wife Mary of Newport News, VA, Juan “Frankie” and wife Brenda of Mountville, Jose “Ito” and companion Anne Barton of Lancaster, Castor “Casper” and wife Kendra of Manheim, and stepson Carlos and companion Lisa Lamoreaux of Kingston, NY; 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two siblings, Mario Luna of Lancaster and Petronila Luna-Matos of MA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rafael and Ramon Luna.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in Mastersonville Cemetery, Rapho Township.
