Miriam D. Hoober, 93, formerly of New Holland, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Paradise Township, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Effie Dennison Denlinger. Miriam was the loving wife of Louis H. Hoober and they would have observed their 71st wedding anniversary in May of this year. For over 20 years Miriam worked at sewing manufacturing companies in Paradise and Blue Ball. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Paradise. Her interests included: fishing, crabbing, boating, reading, all types of puzzles, crocheting and traveling. She had a life-long passion for her family, and enjoyed participating with her children and grandchildren’s activities throughout the years.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are four daughters: Thelma L. wife of William F. Herr Jr. of Leola, Nancy J. wife of John Hershey of Harborton, VA., June A. Motyka of Etna, NH., Susan A. wife of Michael Ressler of Burke, VA., five grandsons, ten great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Hershey of Lancaster. Preceding her in death is a grandson, Douglas W. Herr, three sisters, and one brother.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Landis Homes Retirement Community, WEST BETHANY CHAPEL, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in St. John’s United Methodist Cemetery, Paradise. Friends may visit with the family at the WEST BETHANY CHAPEL on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
