Milton E. Hess, “Uncle Miltie” as he was affectionately known, 84, of Elizabethtown, passed away August 24, 2016 at the Masonic Health Care Center, Elizabethtown. Born in Lancaster Twp., he was the son of the late Milton M. and Esther Eckman Hess, and grew up on the family farm in Manor Twp. He was the husband of Luetta (Zellers) Hess and they celebrated 62 years of marriage on April 11, 2016. Upon moving to the Elizabethtown area Milt was a salesman at Messick’s Farm Equipment, and then a salesman for the former Petticoffer Dodge, Elizabethtown, and then continued as a salesman for Hondru Dodge until retirement. Milt was a member of the West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, Elizabethtown where enjoyed playing on the softball team and the over 60’s ball team. He also enjoyed hunting and vacationing at his cabin in Clinton County.
Surviving in addition to his wife Luetta are two sons Timothy Hess; Joel husband of Karen Hess; a daughter Audrey wife of Randy Estep; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister Helen Diffenderfer. In addition to his parents Milt was preceded in death by one brother and nine sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 Green Tree Road, Elizabethtown PA 17022 on Sunday August 28, 2016 at 3:00 PM. There will be a public viewing at the church from 1:30 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
