Mildred J. “Millie” (Long) Keener, 84, of Lititz, formerly of Penryn and Elm, died Thursday December 8, 2016 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Robert K. “Bob” Keener and they celebrated 61 years of marriage this past October.
Born in East Hempfield Twp., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Jennie (Derr) Long. Millie was an egg inspector for Sauder Eggs of Lititz for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Penryn. Known for having a kind spirit, she enjoyed taking care of her husband and neighbors. She liked watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Philadelphia Phillies, PSU football and golf. She also liked to do daily crossword puzzles.\
Surviving in addition to her husband Bob is a son Jeffrey Keener, Columbia; a daughter Beverly wife of Brian Volpone, Lititz; four grandchildren - Tara Cantrell, Gregory, Kaitlyn and Dylan Volpone; and a great–grandson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers Clarence, Mark, and Harold Long.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Millie’s funeral service at Luther Acres, Chapel of the Good Samaritan, 250 St. Luke Dr. Lititz on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM. There will be public visitation on Saturday in the Chapel of the Good Samaritan from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
