Mildred H. "Millie" Longenecke

Mildred H. Millie Longenecker, 95, formerly of East High Street Manheim died on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Brethren Village Lancaster.

Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Monroe H. and Kathryn Charles Hostetter. She was the loving wife of Linn C. Longenecker who died in June of 1989. Millie worked along side her husband at the former Longeneckers Wholesale Greenhouse in Manheim. She was a member of the East Fairview Church of the Brethren, Manheim, where she served as a deacon and church treasurer in her early years. Millie was a 1933 graduate of the former Manheim High School. From 1957 to 1984 Millie volunteered at Brethren Village. She was a member of the Brethren Village Grey Mermaids, a synchronized aquatic swimming group. She and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States in their Volkswagen Camper. She enjoyed needlework of all types, especially knitting, weaving and crocheting.

Surviving are two daughters: Marilyn Sanko wife of William K. Ebel of Lancaster, Rosene J. wife of Harry B. Shenk of Lititz, a son, Garry L. husband of Peg Eshelman Longenecker of Manheim, eight grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law: Grace Hostetter of Hickory, N.C., and Mabel Hostetter of Brethren Village. Preceding her in death are two brothers: Reverend B. Charles Hostetter and James Hostetter.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service from the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jimm A. Roland and Pastor Dana E. Statler officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in East Fairview Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Township. Friends may visit with the family at the Brethren Village Chapel on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
