Michael David Palmer, 60, of 2931 Lebanon Road Manheim died Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late J. Palmer, and Edith Dulla Staples, and the stepson of Raymond Staples of Reading, PA.
Michael was employed as a drug and alcohol counselor for the former Columbia PA. Hospital. He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and the Reading American Legion Post 902. Michael was a passionate sports fan and enjoyed watching all types sporting events. He enjoyed fishing throughout his life.
Surviving in addition to his stepfather is a son, James L. Jackson of Harrisburg, five grandchildren, an aunt, Frances Peoples of Glassboro, N.J., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A devoted friend, Anne Myers of Manheim, will lovingly miss Michael. Preceding him in death is a brother Cecil Palmer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Michaels funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim, PA., on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment is in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, PA. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
