Mervin S. Ruhl, 91, of Manheim, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Raymond and Elsie Shenenberger Ruhl. Mervin had a life-long passion for work. For over 40 years Mervin worked at the Fuller Company in the foundry division in Manheim. Following retirement he worked many years part time for the Manheim Auto Auction and Weis Markets Manheim. He was the husband of the late Winifred I. Kline Ruhl, who died in March of 1992. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mervin served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a long time member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim; other memberships included the Manheim VFW and Manheim American Legion. Mervin loved rooting for his favorite teams, the Phillies, and Penn State Nittany Lions Football, taking long walks around Manheim, and was devoted to his family.
Surviving is a grandson, W. Michael Jr. husband of Kayla Ulrich of Lancaster, a granddaughter, Danielle wife of Robert Hartman of Manheim, seven great grandchildren: Reagan Ulrich, Katelyn Ulrich, Cameron, Caleb, Caden, Kyle, Colton Hartman, a step son, Lonnie Sangrey, and a step daughter, Lois Bergman. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Lavonne Ulrich, a step son, Larry Sangrey, a brother, Ivan Ruhl, and a sister, Evelyn Long.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mervin’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
