Melvin E. “Mel” Brandt, 64, of Hershey, died peacefully at his residence, Saturday March 24, 2018. He was the loving husband of Linda (Huntzberger) Brandt and they celebrated 44 years of marriage in November 2017. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Arthur and Anna Grace (Snavely) Brandt. Mel was a partner of “Spring Nook Farms” of Hershey. He was a graduate of Lower Dauphin High School class of 1972. He was a member of Conewago Church of the Brethren. In addition to his wife and family he had a love for “Oliver” tractors and was a member of the Keystone Oliver Tractor Club and the Mason Dixon Oliver Tractor Club. Mel also enjoyed woodworking, creating wooden spoons and spatulas, and he also enjoyed hunting. Mel had a passion for local history and was greatly involved with the South Londonderry Township Area Historical Society.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Joey E. (Mikey) Brandt, Asheville, NC; a daughter Jennifer (Jonathan) Silkman, Palmyra; two granddaughters; two brothers Dale (Lynette) Brandt, Middletown, Kenneth Brandt, Hershey; and two sisters Verna (Gordon) Wolfe, Milton Grove, and Karen (Brian) Matthews, Hershey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Road, Hershey, PA, on Friday March 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Shenks Community Cemetery. There will be a time of viewing and visitation on Friday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
