Mary K. Ruhl Kreider, 93, of East Petersburg died peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Keystone Villa, Ephrata. Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late, Ephraim and Bertha Christ Kiehl. Mary was the wife of J. Lester Kreider and they observed their 13th wedding anniversary in June of this year; her first husband was the late, Clayton H. Ruhl who died in December 1999. Mary worked for Garvins Department Store and Hamilton Watch. Since the age of 14years Mary was a faithful and active member at Trinity United Church of Christ, East Petersburg, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, chairperson of evangelism and kitchen committees, and also served on the nursery school board. She enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas work, crafts, reading and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Lester, is a daughter, Ruth K. wife of John Deemer of Akron, a daughter-in-law, Teresa Ruhl of Lancaster, a step son, Ronald husband of Lori Kreider of Lancaster, a step daughter, Sandra wife of Tom Krantz of Lancaster, four grandchildren: Ricky, Gina, Jacki, Brian, three great grandchildren: Sami, Kelsey, and Nathan, three step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, a brother, Victor Kiehl of Lancaster, two sisters: Berea wife of W. Samuel Frey of Phoenixville, Elaine E. wife of Harry Neff of Lancaster. Preceding her in death is a son, Richard K. Ruhl, a daughter, Rosella Ruhl, and a twin sister, Esther Willis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mary’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim.
