Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Resch

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Resch, 92, of Columbia and formerly of Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Burgess Resch. Betty retired as a supervisor for the Philadelphia Navy Base Defense Supply Agency. She also worked for the former Olmsted AFB, Middletown. Betty was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia. An avid artist, she enjoyed drawing, decorating, fashion and she loved to spend time with her family.

Surviving is a daughter-in-law, Shirley Resch of Columbia, 5 grandchildren, Charles, Scott, Vicki, Jacob and Susanna, 17 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and 4 sisters, Carolyn Derstler of Maytown, Doris wife of Albert Schmitt of Columbia, Barbara Austin of Florida and Shirely Marcello of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles B. “Whitey” Resch and 8 siblings.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Betty’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
