Mary “Bunny” Ebba Emmons, 80, of Lancaster, died peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Brethren Village, Lititz, PA. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, the daughter of the late Sven and Ebba M. Lindgren Bird. Mary met Larrimore B. “Larry” Emmons when he was in Canada as an exchange student. At Larry’s passing in 2014, they had been married 55 years.
Mary received an Associate’s Degree in nursing from Strong Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., then worked as a registered nurse. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 36, she was still intent to provide a home for her family and to lead a life of service. She was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (Landisville), a faithful participant in Bible Study, a marvelous cook and baker, a skilled seamstress, an avid reader, and a knowledgeable gardener. She enjoyed quilling and bridge. Throughout all seasons of life, her faith in Jesus Christ was a constant.
Surviving are two sons, Ian (husband of Karen Emmons) of Fairfax, VA., Eric (husband of Kathy Emmons) of Pittsburgh, and five grandchildren: Amber, Alexander and Kira Emmons of Fairfax, VA., and Anna and Katelyn Rose Emmons of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by her sister, Barbro Teskey, of Ottawa, Ontario. Preceding her in death were brother William Bird and sister Susan Smith.
