Mary Jane Balmer

Mary Jane Balmer, 87, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Earl S. and Anna K. Cassel Hummer. She was the loving wife of the late Arlin L. Balmer who died in 1978. Jane was a graduate of Manheim Central High School, class of 1955. She loved farming and continued to farm for several years after Arlin passed. Jane also served as a supervisor for Mount Joy Township and President of the Lancaster County Farm Bureau. For the past 20 years Jane has been driving the Amish and made many good friends over the years. She also was a tour guide for Amish Neighbor Tours. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of Lancaster County with visitors from all over the country and beyond. 

 Surviving is a daughter, Belle wife of Terry Frey of Mount Joy; a son, R. Bryan husband of Tammy Martin Balmer of Manheim; five grandchildren; Vanessa Vastyan wife of Daniel of Cody, WY, Adam Frey husband of Patricia of Elizabethtown; Mitchell Balmer of Manheim, Allyson wife of Liam Heckman of Palmyra and Trenton Balmer of Manheim; two brothers, William and Glenn Hummer and three sisters, Ann Graybill, Nancy Waltz, and Carol Hummer all of Manheim. She was proceeded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Robert and Charles Hummer.

 Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Interment in East Fairview Brethren Cemetery, Manheim.
