Martha Jean Bricker, 87, of Manheim PA, formerly of Uniontown, Phoenix AZ, and Malvern died peacefully, Saturday March 9, 2019. She was the loving wife of Vernon J. Bricker who died in 2001. Born in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Black (J.B.) and Alice (Minor) Adams, II. After high school Martha attended and graduated from Waynesburg College. Martha had been a social worker in Uniontown and Phoenix, and was a secretary for General Electric in Philadelphia before retiring. Martha was member of St. Paul’s United Church, Manheim, and was a member of the Red Hat society. She enjoyed reading, and loved wearing hats on a daily basis.
Surviving is a daughter Rachel A. Schickling, Pocono Lake, PA, a step-daughter Ann Gibbs Bricker, Outer Banks, N.C.; two granddaughters Jill and Katie Schickling; and two brothers J.B. Adams, III, Narberth PA, Charles Adams, Philadelphia, two nieces and a nephew. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a step-son Stephen Scott.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Martha’s memorial service in Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim PA on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions in Martha’s memory may be sent to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill PA 17011 or Pleasant View retirement Community, Benevolent Care Fund, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim PA 17545, or to the charity of one’s choice.
