Marian H. Landis, 91, formerly of Landisville, died peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at her apartment. Born in Manheim Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Susan Herr Hess. She was a graduate of Strasburg High School. Marian was the wife of Benjamin S. Landis who died six weeks ago on January 5, 2012. Following Christ's example, Marian lived a life of service to her church, her family, and her neighbors. She was a faithful member of the East Petersburg Mennonite Church and was active with the sewing circle making comforters, and school kit bags for the Mennonite Central Committee. She volunteered at the Mount Joy Gift and Thrift Shop and in the activities room at the Mennonite Home. She will be remembered by friends and neighbors for her chocolate coated candies and her love of gardening and house plants. She also enjoyed scrapbooking. Surviving are two daughters, Marian married to Sam Thomas , Landisville, Joyce married to Glenn Rohrer, Lancaster, five married grandchildren, Janelle ( Ryan Sauder) , Marlisa (Sheldon Wenger), Jodie (Randy Brubaker), Geoffrey (Amy Shearer), Brad (Zoe Baer), and ten great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a brother, Clarence Hess and a sister, Elizabeth Denlinger. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Lancaster County, Lancaster Special Care, and Janice, her devoted daytime caregiver. A service of remembrance of Ben and Marian's lives together will be held at the East Petersburg Mennonite Church 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM till 10:15 AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the adjoining church cemetery.
