Marian A. Miller, 80, of Manheim, died peacefully following a brief illness on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. and Anna G. Herr Miller. Marian was the loving wife of Robert P. Miller and they observed their 59th wedding anniversary in November of last year. She was a graduate of Manheim High Scholl Class of 1950. In 1952 Marian received an Associate Degree in Health Services from Elizabethtown College and worked as a medical secretary for several doctors medical offices in Lancaster. During her working career she also was a secretary for the Manheim Central School District, and later worked as a secretary for Manheim National Bank, Farmers First Bank Manheim Branch, and retired from Susquehanna Bank at their corporate headquarters in Lititz. She was an active and faithful member for over 68 years at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Manheim where she served as both Deacon and Elder on the Church Consistory, choir member, and women’s fellowship. Marian was a member of the Manheim Women’s Club and served as secretary/treasurer for the Manheim Historical Society for many years. Her interests included: reading, playing bridge, knitting, and spending time at the Maryland and Jersey Shores.
Surviving in addition to her husband, is a son, Lee A. husband of Moreen Griffe Miller of Shady Shores, TX., and a daughter, Lynn M. companion of Joan Westenhoefer of Mount Joy. Preceding her in death are two sisters: Dorothy Stauffer and Anna Mae Hollinger.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim for their compassionate care, assistance, and kindness shown to Marian during her stay.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Memorial Garden. Friends may visit with the family in the Hoffer Auditorium on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of the service.
