Margaret Thompson, 85, of Lancaster passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018. Born in Jasper Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Casper and Constance Melchior Elliott. She was the wife of the late Dr. Robert Thompson. A Registered Nurse, Margaret was Director of Nursing at Monroe Hospital and later Director of the Nursing Program at the Community College in Ocala, Florida. She was an amazing cook, an avid reader and scholar. She received her MFA in Old and Middle English from the University of Florida. After the death of her husband in 1993 she moved to Lancaster. A passionate gardener, she maintained the gardens of the Demuth Museum as a volunteer for close to 10 years. Roses were her joy.
Surviving is a daughter, Lisa Howard Tobin wife of James Tobin of Lititz, a grandson, Connor Tobin and nine siblings. She was preceded in death by two siblings.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
