Margaret E. ”Marge” Sheaffer, 93, of Elizabethtown, and formerly of New Holland, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Grace E. Russell Harnish. Marge was the loving wife of the late Donald A. Sheaffer who died in July of 2012. Marge attended school at Millersville Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Manor High School. She received her Bachelors of Art Education Degree from Kutztown State Teachers College. From 1949 to 1952 she was employed as an Art Teacher for the East Donegal School District. Marge was a member of St. Stephen Reformed Church, New Holland, and Sell Chapel at Masonic Village. Marge was a member of the Order of the Amaranth Victory Court # 149, Elizabethtown, the Lancaster Art Association, and the Lancaster Red Rose Doll Club. Marge had a life-long history of supporting her beloved community of New Holland where she lived most of her life. She was a leader for the New Holland Summer Arts Program, and was the founder and leader of one of the first pre-school education programs in the New Holland area. She also assisted her daughter in the management of the Village Doll Hospital, Blue Ball. Marge had a life-long passion for her family and she cherished the time she could spend with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters: Gale G. Sheaffer of Tampa, FL., Kay J. wife of Dr. William Raffensperger of New Holland, three sons: Donald A. Sheaffer Jr. companion of Annette Newman of Livermore, CA., John C. “Jack” husband of Mary Sheaffer of Millersburg, Thomas G. husband of Illyse Sheaffer of Marietta, GA., six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a grandson, Jared Sheaffer.
