Lucy Stehman, 84, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at her residence, with John by her side. Born in East Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Elizabeth (Baer) Long. She was the wife of the late H. Connelly Stehman who died in 1996, and was the companion of John B. Splain, Sr. of Columbia for the past 15 years. Lucy will be remembered by many people…in many ways. Her contagious sense of Humor brightened any atmosphere. Boating was her favorite pastime, and sometimes vacationed in Nashville where she could be around her favorite singer ”Elvis” and “country western” music. When at home, Lucy enjoyed hosting garden parties, showing “God’s Beauty” to her friends. Lucy was also an accomplished ballroom dancer. She was also a talented creator of handicrafts, working with driftwood and sea shells. In her earlier years, Lucy worked with her late husband and his parents at the former Stehman Chip Corp. of Manheim.
In addition to her companion John, she is survived by a son Curtis D. Stehman of Manheim, and a nephew Ronald Hoak of Conestoga. She was preceded in death by three half- brothers Robert Long, Clarence Long, Bill Simmons, a sister Dottie Hoak, and a half-sister Catherine Maurer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:30 am until the time of the service.
