Lucille G. Huber

Lucille G. Huber, 76, of Lititz, covered in prayer and loved by her husband and children by her side died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Because of her faith she was at peace and reassured others that she was prepared to be with her Lord.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Lester W. and Mildred Wenger Groff. Lucille was the loving wife of John R. “Jack” Huber and they observed their 57th wedding anniversary in July of this year.

Lucille was instrumental in providing support and encouragement in growing the family businesses over the years, allowing the expansion into the fourth generation. She was creative and her decorative talents surrounded Lucille and everything she touched. She was well-known for her Tole Painting work as well as teaching the Tole Painting art. Her decorative Christmas ornament was chosen for the White House Christmas Tree, and was then accepted in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. The family observed her decorative talents everywhere with her art, landscaping work, and creative projects.

Lucille was an active and faithful member of Lititz Church of the Brethren where she was a member of the choir. From early youth to last moments of her life she had a passion for church music, singing in choirs, mixed ensembles, played her saxophone in accompaniment at her home church in PA and in church at Arcadia, Florida. She was also involved in music worship at Sunnybreeze Christian Fellowship in Arcadia, Florida, for many years. She competed in Youth for Christ and her trio won a competition to go to Winona Lake, Indiana. Her whole life was music. In fact, a phrase was coined around Lucille’s love for music: she was known as “music, music, music.”

Lucille’s memberships included: Camp Lighters, a Christian travel group, Red Rose City Chorus Sweet Adelines, and the Tole Painting Association. She enjoyed camping, everything in nature especially bird watching. She enjoyed her winter home in Florida, she also enjoyed boating on the Peace River, observing many species of water fowl, and enjoying picnic lunches on the pontoon boat.

Lucille was adored by her husband, children, and grandchildren; surviving in addition to her husband Jack, are two daughters: Gwendolyn “Wendy” Huber of Doylestown, Debra Ann Huber of Mount Joy, a son, John D. husband of Lisa Huber of Lancaster, five grandchildren: Ben, John, Jacob, Nathan, Anna. A sister, Carol, wife of Don Horning of New Holland and brother, Lynn. Preceding her in death are two grandchildren, and a sister Joan Amand.

The family wishes to thank all the staff of Hospice and Community Care for the loving care provided to Lucille during her illness.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Music Celebration of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the Life of Lucille Huber at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, on Saturday October 7th, 2017, at 11:00 am. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be private in the Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
