Lorraine Wilda Wiegand, 88, of Moravian Manor passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. A lifelong Lititz resident, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace Frey Eckert. Married for 53 years, she was the wife of the late George Monroe Wiegand, who passed away in 1999.
A 1945 graduate of Lititz High School, Lorraine was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lititz, where she was active in the Faith, Hope and Charity Sunday school class. She was an avid reader and member of Friends of the Lititz Public Library.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and spending time with her family. She was a former den mother for Troop 44 and worked for the Warwick School District in food service. Lorraine’s interests included sewing, traveling and playing the piano and organ.
She will be lovingly missed by her two sons, James, husband of Jo Anna Wiegand, Robert, husband of Paula Wiegand, all of Ephrata; two daughters, Donna Ann, wife of Michael Hammond, Susan Lorraine, wife of Theodore Kroeck, both of Lititz; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and a step brother, J. Richard Coates, husband of Janet, Lititz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lorraine’s Funeral Service in Steinman Hall at Moravian Manor, 300 W. Lemon St., Lititz, on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a visitation with the family on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment in Machpelah Cemetery will be private.
