Lois M. Hoffer

November 20, 1929 — February 14, 2025

Ephrata

    Lois M. Hoffer, 95, of Ephrata, and formerly of Mount Gretna, and Manheim; died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 14, 2025. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Gertrude Kraybill Miller. Lois was the loving wife of the late J. Kenneth Hoffer who died in April 2015 following 36 years of marriage. Lois received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Elizabethtown College, and continued her education receiving a Master’s Degree in Reading from Shippensburg University. During 30 years in Education; Lois taught in Public and Christian Schools for 17 years, and then became an Editor for an Educational Publishing Company for over 13 years. Lois was a former member of both the Pleasant View, and Elizabethtown, United Zion Churches; where she played the piano and organ during their worship services, and enjoyed attending the United Zion Camp Meetings. Her interests include: Crocheting, Knitting, Quilting, playing the Piano, and Organ, and rooting for her Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Team. She had a life-long passion for her family, and cherished the time she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

   Surviving are two sons: Kenneth L. husband of Anita Hoffer of Ephrata, Kevin J. Hoffer of Manheim, three grandchildren: Nate husband of Rebekah Hoffer, Christy wife of Chad Herman, Jason Hoffer, and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a sister, Esther Lehman, and four brothers: T. Kraybill, Alvin, Jonas, and John Miller. 

  The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice and Community Care for their love, support, and compassion.

  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lois’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
