Lois I. “Dolly” Bomberger, 90, of Penryn, died peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Pleasant View Communities, Manheim, where she was a resident. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Morris L. and Nora Hilton Irvin. Lois was the loving wife of the late Isaac D. “Ike” Bomberger who died in March 2016 following 60 years of marriage. She was a 1952 graduate of Warwick Township High School; and continued her education graduating from School for Banking Administration at the University of Wisconsin, completing courses in Bank Auditing and Bank Administration. After 41 years in the banking industry, Lois retired as a Certified Bank Auditor as well as the Vice President of the former Union National Community Bank, Mount Joy.
Lois was a faithful and active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Penryn. She was an expert seamstress, and made many of her own clothes, enjoyed quilting, reading, making Rag Dolls and Teddy Bears, and enjoyed spending time with her family at the cabin in Potter County. She was known for knitting Prayer Shawls which she gave away to family, friends, and through the Prayer Shawl ministry at her church and through Pleasant View Communities. She had just finished her 230th Prayer Shawl.
Surviving is a sister, Kathryn Shreiner of Manheim, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is a son, Michael I. Bomberger, four sisters: Esther Boyer, Evelyn Neideigh, Dorothy Mort, Elva Kupres, and four brothers: Paul, Roy, Clarence, and James Irvin.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lois’s Funeral Service from St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1258 Newport Road, Penryn, on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Penryn Cemetery.
