Lloyd Keener

June 14, 1919 — March 14, 2010

Lloyd Keener, 90, formerly of Pinch Road Manheim died peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Lancashire Hall, Lancaster.

Born in Mount Wilson, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ida Sonon Keener. In 1984 Lloyd retired from Heil Company Lancaster where he worked as a mechanic for thirty-two years, he then worked part time as a welder for Greiner Industries Mount Joy and for Lefever Builders Manheim. He was the husband of Ruth Blecher Keener who died in 1998. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was an active and faithful member of Hope Episcopal Church Manheim where he served as the Senior Warden, Vestry Member, and Lay Reader. Lloyd was a member of the Manheim V.F.W. Post 5956, the Manheim American Legion Post 419, and the Mastersonville Fire Company. Throughout his life he had a passion for hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the Elstonville Sportsmen Association and the Hemlock Archery Club.

Surviving are four daughters: Susan Shoemaker of Manheim, Ruth Ann wife of Harold Gruber of Mt. Aetna, Rebecca wife of Robert Montgomery of Manheim, Debra Keener of Manheim, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and three sisters: Miriam Nye of Myerstown, Elnora Puckett of Mt. Wilson, and Erlene Eckert of Palmyra. Preceding him in death are fourteen siblings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service from the Hope Episcopal Church 2425 Mountain Road Manheim on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment is in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church immediately following the service.
