Linda D. Gaugler

            Linda D. Gaugler, 56, of Lancaster, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Born in Anniston, AL she was the daughter of Rosemary Mizell Berry and the late Charles C. Berry. She was the loving wife of David Gaugler with whom she shared 29 years of marriage. 

Linda was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Manheim. She loved to minister to people through her beautiful singing voice. In July 1975, Linda’s mother took her to an Elvis concert where she gained fame as "the little blind girl” when Elvis had her brought on stage and sang to her during the concert. To dispel on line folklore of events, Mr. Presley gave Linda a hug, one of his scarves, and a great story to tell. Linda met David, the love of her life, in 1992 through the Singles Sunday School class at Plaza Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  They married in May 1994 and together enjoyed traveling by cruise ship, riding David’s motorcycle, and the company of family and friends.  Ever the daredevil and not considering herself to be handicapped in any way, Linda tried bungee jumping, water skiing, snow skiing, roller skating, driving a boat and even a car with the support of those who dared her to try! Linda’s infectious sense of humor, love and compassion for others, and her passion for her faith will be missed terribly by those who loved her, but we rejoice that she is with her Lord, her sight restored, her cancer healed, and her beautiful voice added to the choir of angels in heaven.

            Surviving in addition to her mother, Rosemary, and her husband, David, is a brother, Roger Berry, two sisters; Sharon Kirby and Charlene Kakas, ten aunts and uncles, ten nieces and nephews, with one nephew preceding her in death.
