Lester E. Gehman

Lester E. Gehman, 82, of Manheim passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Born in Selinsgrove, he was the son of the late Harry and Sarah Eby Gehman. He was the loving husband of Mildred “Millie” Ebersole Gehman and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in February. Lester owned and operated G & G Feed & Supply, Inc., (Agway) Manheim. He had a love for agriculture and was very committed to the local farmers. Lester was a member of New Covenant Mennonite Church, Lititz. He was also a member of the Custom Tractor Club in the Mid-West. Lester was very supportive with the Manheim Community Farm Show and he was committed in helping local 4-H and FFA youth in their farming endeavors. He was also involved with Transport for Christ in Marietta. His interests included hunting, fishing, traveling and he enjoyed antique tractors.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Sandra L. Gehman, Gene husband of Rose Metzler Gehman, Lucinda “Cindy” wife of Jay Brackbill all of Manheim, Diane wife of Bruce Heimbach of Richfield and Dawn wife of Ken Martin of New Berlin, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two brothers, Jacob husband of Olive Graybill Gehman of Thompsontown, Martin husband of Vernie Barnhill Gehman of Atmore, Alabama and a sister, Lucy wife of John Rudy of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and John Gehman and two sisters, Edith Groff and Grace Aungst.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery, East Donegal Township. There will be a public viewing at Manheim Brethren In Christ Church on Wednesday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM with additional viewing at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may send contributions in Lester’s memory to New Covenant Mennonite Church, 108 Chestnut Street, Lititz, PA 17543 or Transport for Christ, 1525 River Road, PO Box 117, Marietta, PA 17547.
