Leonard J. “Jim” Hogan, 95, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Hermitage, PA and Sarasota, FL, died Tuesday August 7, 2018 at Masonic Village. He was the loving and dedicated husband of the late Kathryn “Kitty” G. Hogan who died in 2008.
Jim was born on March 5, 1923 in Georgia. A veteran of World War II, he served in Great Britain, France, and Germany in the U.S. Army. After the war, he was assigned to Camp Reynolds and remained in the Shenango Valley after the war. While living in Hermitage, he was a sales representative for Nationwide Insurance, and a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fisherman, often spending summer evenings on the Shenango River Lake in his boat. He retired to Sarasota, FL, in 1985. He loved the south.
Jim had a great sense of humor that put those around him at ease. He was a favorite patient of the nurses at Personal Care in the Masonic Village.
Surviving are a daughter, Bridget, wife of Richard Machida, Fairbanks, AK; two sons, Jim husband of Sharon Hogan, Burke VA; and Doc Hogan, Stigler, OK; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
