Lawrence E. “Larry” Beers, Sr., 74, formerly of Manheim passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at LifeCare Hospital of Mechanicsburg. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Herman Sr. and Mary Beers. He was raised by the late Robert and Pauline Shatto. Larry was the husband of the late Catherine J. Mench Beers who died in 2005. He retired after thirty years as a truck driver at the former Charles Chips, Mount Joy. Following retirement, Larry worked for J&S Recon, Manheim. He was a member of the Manheim VFW Post 5956, Elstonville Sportsmen Association, Manheim, Germania Band Club of Manheim and Dela-Ches Association. Larry enjoyed volunteering; especially dressing up and playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and the Philadelphia Eagles. He loved to spend time with his family and his dog, Buddy.
Surviving is a son, Lawrence Beers Jr. of Camp Hill, five daughters, Pauline wife of Raymond Miller Jr. of Franklintown, Beatrice Beers of Hephzibah, Georgia, Sue wife of Frank Mosakowski of Elkton, Maryland, Danielle wife of Ray Steward of Woodstock, Virginia, Bobbi Jo wife of Daniel McNaughton of Harrisburg, stepdaughter, Christina Fair of Marietta, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. Please omit flowers.
