Lawrence B. "Larry" Powers

Lawrence B. Larry Powers, 62, of Manheim, died peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz.

Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Bernie L. and June Shope Powers. Larry was the loving husband of Linda M. Bowman Powers and they observed their 42nd wedding anniversary in September 2009. Larry worked for eighteen years at Mount Joy Wire Company. He previously served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War and retired after twenty-two years of military service for his country. Larry attended Crossroads Brethren In Christ Church, Mount Joy. Throughout his life Larry had a passion for motorcycle riding; he enjoyed riding with his family and friends every day that he could. His memberships included: the Retreads Motorcycle Club International Inc. of Eastern PA, the Manheim VFW Post 5956, Germania Band Club of Manheim, and the Reamstown Athletic Association. Larry enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Milton Grove Sportsman Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Shane B. husband of Melissa Powers of Willow Street, a daughter, Sheila J. S. Shank of Manheim, four grandchildren, Cheyenne, Achillies, Samara, Michael, and a sister, Nellie wife of Toby Graham of Manheim.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Monday evening, April 5, 2010 at 7:30 PM with Pastor Ed Dickel officiating. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 12:30 PM. Friends are invited to meet at the Buch Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 11:30 AM to travel in procession to the cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:30 PM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
