Kenneth R. Reese Sr., 90, of Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim and formerly of South Fulton Street, Manheim passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jesse B. and Bessie Barr Reese. He was the husband of the late Miriam Kulp Reese who died in 2005. Ken retired as a foreman at the former Kerr Glass Corp., Lancaster. He graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1941. Ken served in the United States Army during WW II and received a purple heart and five bronze stars each one commemorating a battle in which he fought. He enjoyed watching sports and he loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth R. husband of Julie Nace Reese of Mountville, James K. Reese of Manheim and Gary L. Reese husband of Dr. Carolyn Rutherford of Hatboro, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Jane Heidig of Paradise. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Reese and a sister, Beatrice Hodgen.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster with military honors. There will be a public viewing at Hoffer Auditorium on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
