Kenneth Paul “Ken” Sprecher, 78, of Manheim, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Leacock, he was the son of the late L. Clayton and M. Esther Berntheizel Sprecher. He was the loving husband of Hilda M. Gfrorer Sprecher and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in July of last year. Ken retired after twenty-eight years as a machine operator at Alcoa, Lancaster and he was the owner and operator of Sprecher Shoe Repair. He graduated from Manheim Central High School in 1955 and he proudly served in the United States Army. Ken was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Manheim where he wound the church/town clock for over twenty five years. He was also a member of the Lancaster Liederkranz. Ken enjoyed antique cars and he loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Steven husband of Kimberly Sprecher of Manheim, two daughters, Monika wife of Woodrow Walker of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Deborah wife of Steve Baker of Sebastian, Florida, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brother, Thomas husband of Gloria Sprecher of Mount Gretna and a sister, Barbara wife of Gordon Lawes of Toowoomba, Australia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy White and a brother, Gilbert Sprecher.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 48 Market Square, Manheim on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township.
