Kenneth C. Achey, 83, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Harold W. and Edna Conrad Achey. Ken was the loving husband of Irene H. Achey. During the Korean War, Ken served in the U.S. Air Force as a morse intercept operator. Stationed with the USAF Security Service in Scotland for 3 years, he met his wife Irene, to whom he was married to for 60+ years. He was the owner of Achey’s TV in Manheim and later in life, he owned and operated Achey’s Repair (pre-owned cars). Ken was of the Episcopal Faith, and was a 1950 graduate of Manheim High School. He enjoyed playing tennis and volleyball and was a former member of the Manheim Tennis Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Irene, are three daughters: Donna wife of George Toro of Bethlehem, Linda Achey of Strasburg, Beverly Achey wife of Scott Smith of Lancaster, two sisters: Doris wife of Art Brubaker and Josie Shelly both of Manheim, two brothers: Ted husband of Ruth Achey of Manheim and Russel husband of Barbara Achey of Florida. Preceding him in death is a brother, Ray Achey and three sisters: Marion Shirk, Anna Marie Geib, and Sara Henry.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
