Kay J. Hoffer

Kay J. Hoffer, 86, of Manheim, died peacefully, Sunday December 17, 2023 at her residence.  She was the widow of the late Martin S. Hoffer who died in 1988.  Born in Tremont, she was the daughter of the late J. Wayne and Erma S. (Dunkle) Miller.  Kay attended Manheim Central High School, and eventually received her GED.  Kay was a nurse’s aide and later Activities Director at Pleasant View Retirement Communities, Manheim for 23 years.

Kay was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim.  She received the 2005 Service to Mankind Award from the Manheim Sertoma Club. She enjoyed traveling, music, dancing, birds, butterflies, pets, and writing her memoir.

     Surviving is a son Jeffrey husband of Jan (Eiseman) Hoffer, Ephrata; two daughters, Debra Hoffer, Lancaster, Dawn wife of Sam Garman, Manheim; five grandchildren Dustin Gravel, Laura Schupp, Sarah Hoffer, Matthias Hoffer, Johanna Hoffer; three great- grandchild Hayden, Kyler, and Silas; and a sister in-law Joyce Hoffer.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters Violet Bush, Miriam Snyder, Vera Underwood, and Carol Shank.  Services will be announced at a later date.
