Katherine M. Luta

July 9, 1918 — December 19, 2014

Katherine M. Luta, 96, formerly of South Charlotte Street, Manheim, died peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon. Born in Binghampton, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan Minchie. Katherine was the loving wife of the late Anthony A. “Tony” Luta who died in August of 1995. In her early years she worked for the former Noggles Garment Factory, Manheim. She was an active and faithful member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim. Katherine enjoyed quilting, cooking, and providing hospitality to her friends and family. She had a life-long passion for her family and loved to take part in activities with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are four daughters: Mary Ann Kovack of Lewes, DE, Gloria wife of Gene J. Upanavage of Tamaqua, Annette wife of Robert L. Haas of Mohnton, Kathleen M. Luta of Arlington, VA, a son, Anthony M. “Tony” husband of Janet E. Belas Luta of Manheim, 10 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are two sisters and one brother.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim, on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:30 AM with the Reverend Father Steven D. Weitzel, officiating. There will be a viewing at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Katherine’s memory to St. Richard Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim, PA 17545.
