June Marie Smith Phillips, 95, of Manheim, PA, formerly of Oakhurst, NJ, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Katherine Haller Smith. She was the loving wife of the late John Beach Phillips, who died in 1976. June was a graduate of Asbury Park High School. She retired from Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, NJ and after retirement worked as a church secretary at Old First Methodist Church, West Long Branch, NJ. She was an active member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church, Oakhurst, NJ and most recently a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim, PA. June enjoyed attending Elizabethtown Senior Center. She had a passion for playing board and card games. June loved spending time with her family and celebrating holidays and birthdays.
Surviving is a daughter Joyce wife of John Kaczinski of East Petersburg, PA, a son John Beach Phillips, Jr. of Manheim, four granddaughters, Heather Hankins, Brooke Walter, Kimberly Wilder, and Amanda Phillips, and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are a son, a great granddaughter, a sister, Catherine Smith, and four brothers, LeRoy, Arthur, Albert, and Walter Smith.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend June’s funeral service at Salem United Methodist Church, 140 North Penn Street, Manheim, on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Monmouth Road, West Long Branch, NJ on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
