Julia G. Longenecker, 99, of Lititz, died peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Brethren Village Retirement Community. Born in Warwick Township, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Eva Groff Lutz. Julia was the loving wife of the late Roy E. Longenecker who died in March of 2006. She was an active and faithful member of Florin Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday school in her early years, and where she and her husband served as Deacons. Julia enjoyed flower gardening, canning, was an avid quilter, member of the Red Rose Quilters Guild, and loved to root for Penn State Football. She had a deep passion for her family; and cherished all the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving is a son, Philip L. Longenecker husband of Linda Waldron, of Raleigh, NC, two daughters: Paula wife of Lee Roussel of Tacoma, WA, Patricia wife of Dennis Hay of Folly Beach, SC, seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a grandson, Bryan Hay, and three brothers: Eugene, Howard, and Ivan Lutz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Julia’s funeral service in the Chapel at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family in Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Longenecker’s Cemetery, Lititz. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Julia’s memory to: Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
