Joyce G. Plasterer

Joyce G. Plasterer, 88, formerly of Manheim passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Luther Acres, Lititz. Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry N. and Sue Garman Givler. She was the loving wife of the late Parke E. Plasterer who died in 2012.
Retired in 1995, Joyce was the secretary for 34 years at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim. After retirement Joyce and her husband tended a stand at Root’s Market and Lancaster Central Market. Joyce was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim and volunteered at Luther Acres, Lititz and for the Manheim Meals-on-Wheels. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and Advisory Board Member for many years. Joyce was very instrumental in organizing the former Manheim Lioness Club where she served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and she received Lioness of the Year award in 1984. With her dedication and hard work, Joyce also received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1990.

Surviving are two children, Sally P. wife of Gene Whitney of Fort Collins, Colorado, William G. husband of Pam Brock Plasterer of Manheim, a grandson, Matthew husband of Kayla Whitney of Loveland, Colorado and two siblings, Ralph G. husband of Lois Hershey Givler of Manheim and Joan Young of Lititz. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Henry G. Givler and Jean Becker.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit the family at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. A memorial reception will be held following the interment at Luther Acres, Lititz at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Joyce’s memory to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim, PA 17545.
