Joseph (Joe) S. Gelgot

October 15, 1963 — March 25, 2017

Joe Gelgot, 53, of Lititz, and formerly of Manheim and Hazleton, PA died peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Joe and Joanne (Kushmeder) Gelgot of Mountaintop. Joe was the beloved husband of Cynthia (Cindy) Socha-Gelgot, formerly of Hazleton. A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Joe received Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Economics. After graduating college, he worked for Boeing Helicopters as a liaison engineer. Subsequent to a career change in 1996, he worked as an insurance broker for MetLife, Hornafius Insurance Company, and most recently the Hess Agency, Inc. for the past eleven years. As partners of LCBC Church, Manheim Campus, Joe and his wife have been active with Kids ministry and several LIFE groups. He was a member of the Manheim Lions Club and Manheim Rotary Club, where he served as president of both organizations. He was also active with the Manheim Area Republican Committee. Joe’s interests included watching Washington Redskins football, professional and high school soccer, woodworking, and landscaping around his small farm property. Before children, he and Cindy raised and showed Saint Bernards.

Joe had a deep love and passion for his wife and children. A devoted husband and father, he was a hands-on dad who attended most every athletic and school event his children were involved in throughout the years. He was a man of integrity, and was strong but quiet in his faith. Being with his family and spending time on their farm property was his ultimate joy.

Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife Cindy of 25 years, are two children, Joseph (Joe) B. Gelgot, a junior at Lancaster Country Day School, and a daughter, Magdalene (Maggie) A. Gelgot, a freshman at Lititz Christian School, both at home. His brother Steve and wife Michele reside in Stokesdale, N.C.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joe’s service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance at LCBC Church, Manheim Campus, West Wing Auditorium, 2392 Mount Joy Road, Manheim, on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM (Please Enter South Auditorium Entrance).
