Joseph G. "Joe" Ginder

October 29, 1934 — February 22, 2015

Joseph G. “Joe” Ginder, 80, formerly of Old Line Road, Manheim, passed away peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Born in Mastersonville, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Mary (Ginder) Ginder, and stepson of the late Verna Faus Ginder. He was the loving husband of Ann L. Byer Ginder, and they observed their 55th wedding anniversary in June, 2014.

Joe and his wife served as missionaries for over 20 years, managing a bookstore in Zimbabwe through the Brethren In Christ Church. A member of Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, he served as a deacon and on the missions committee. Joe attended Messiah College and went on to work in the appliance department at Longenecker’s Hardware, Manheim, as manager of the Christian Light Bookstore in Elizabethtown, as well as Cloister Flooring, Ephrata, and the Lancaster Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA). Joe enjoyed cutting and selling firewood, vegetable gardening, following the stock market, and traveling with Ann throughout the US and Europe.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Joan wife of Marcus Kline of Stevens, Jill wife of Terry Nolt of Denver; four grandchildren, Caleb, Reese and Mallory Kline, and Allyson Nolt; a brother Jesse Ginder of Olympia, WA, and sisters Grace wife of Tom Simpson of Boiling Springs and Dorcas Siskowski of San Marcos, CA.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joe’s memorial service at Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2:30 PM until the time of the service. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Mastersonville Cemetery.
