John W. Keller, 100, a life-long resident of Lititz, passed away on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Luther Acres. Born October 20, 1917, he was the son of the late Allen and Maria Weidman Keller. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth Bruce Keller, his wife of 76 years.
John served at the Nuremberg Trials as a veteran of the U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence Corps, following World War II as a security guard for the American Judge, Robert H. Jackson at the trials.
John and his wife Ruth were the owners and operators of Keller’s Gift Shop, on Main Street, Lititz; retiring in 1979 after 29 years. He was a life-long member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren and was a member of the choir, and men’s chorus. John loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and watching sports especially football and golf.
Surviving is a son, Robert husband of Sarah Keller of Rochester, MN, a daughter, Sandra K. wife of Leon Pennel of Lititz, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Lynne Keller of Ephrata. Preceding him in death is a son, Dr. Jon Michael Keller, a daughter, Sueann Keller, a sister, Florence Stelling, and two brothers: Elmer Keller and Colonel Robert Keller.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s memorial service at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be private in the church memorial garden. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in John’s memory to the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, PA 17543.
