John L. “Josh” Peiffer, 83, of Lititz, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Lillian Zell Peiffer and was married for 50 years to the late Shirley Witmer Peiffer, who passed away in 2002.
An Ephrata High School graduate, he liked to play the drums and was a member of the Ephrata Marching Band. He met his wife, Shirley, while he was playing the drums in a local band called the “Blue Notes”.
Josh was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Shadwell (LSD-15).
A member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lititz, he worked for 30 years at Warner Lambert as a groundskeeper and was employed part time for eight years at the Garden Spot Badge Company.
Josh enjoyed going to Hollywood Casino and loved to spend time outside and with his children and grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Jody , wife of John Young, Lititz and Joni Scotten, companion of Harry Newkumet, Akron; three grandchildren, Tammy, wife of Ross Stine, Narvon, Jamie, wife of Jason Usner, Ephrata and Joshua Scotten, companion of Ashley, Lancaster; four great grandchildren, Aaron, Jaden, Zoee and Andrew Douangsouri; four sisters, Jane Allen of IN, Peggy, wife of Harold Rupp; June, wife of Donald Garner and Carole, wife of Joel Hiestand, all of Ephrata. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a son, Jeff.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
