John K. Peters, 84, of Manheim passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Willis and Alice Kready Peters. He was the loving husband of Orpha E. Geib Peters and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past October. John owned and operated Pleasant Hollow Dairy Farm in Rapho Township. He graduated from the former Manheim High School and was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Manheim. John and his wife were supporters of the Heifer Project. His interests included woodworking, raising chickens and he enjoyed helping his son with Peters’ Barbeque, Manheim. His family was his passion.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Jay M. husband of Margie Boll Peters, Dennis L. husband of Nancy Delp Peters and Dale L. husband of Joette Keller Peters all of Manheim; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, a sister, Ruth P. wife of J. Allen Zendt of Mifflintown and a brother, Raymond K. husband of Beckie Summers Peters of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and five siblings, Luke Peters, Anna Peters, Paul Peters, Esther Miller and Lois Peters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at East Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM. There will be a viewing from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
