John J. Scheetz Sr., 76, of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday August 16, 2012 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Lebanon. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John and Mary Hambelton Scheetz. John was employed as a mechanic for John's Mower Shop in East Petersburg; he also worked as a lineman for local cable companies in the Lancaster area. A veteran, John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the husband of the late Anita A. (Reese) Scheetz who died in September of 2011. John was of the Christian faith. A true sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and rooting for his favorite driver, Tony Stewart. His other interests included: jig-saw puzzles and traveling to flea markets. Surviving are two sons, John J. Jr. husband of Wendy Scheetz of Manheim, Jeffrey J. Scheetz, of East Petersburg, three daughters: Debra J. Scheetz, Mary E. wife of Edward Andrews, Jon-Anne J. wife of Michael Fisher all of Manheim, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are two brothers: Gerald Mellinger, Donald Scheetz, and one sister, Suzanne Mellinger. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Thursday August 23, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
