John R. "Jack" Huber

Lititz

 John R. “Jack” Huber, 84, of Lititz, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of the late, John S. and Viola Gish Huber. Jack was the loving husband of Anna Wenger Reimer Huber and they observed their 5th wedding anniversary in July of this year. Jack’s first wife was the late Lucille Groff Huber who died in September of 2017, following 57 years of marriage. John was a 1958 graduate of Manheim Township High School; and was an active and faithful member of Lititz Church of the Brethren. He volunteered with mission trips through Mennonite Disaster Relief. Jack helped restore the Sunny Breeze Community in Florida following Hurricane Charley in 2004, and Hurricane Ian in 2022. Jack also attended Calvary Church Lancaster and Sunny Breeze Christian Fellowship Church in Arcadia, Florida. 

 Throughout his life Jack was an Agri-Business Entrepreneur and Farmer. Along with having a farm in Perry County, Jack was instrumental in the development of “Disease-Free Chickens” with the help of Dr. Wilson V. Miller, Veterinary. Jack formed Huber Trucking, to help facilitate the transportation of eggs for the development of vaccines for poultry diseases. Jack served as president of the Lancaster County Poultry Association for two terms. During his career, Jack was instrumental in a number of multi-family developments within Manheim and Warwick Townships. He continued to operate Huber’s Villa Apartments founded by his father, which is now operated by the third and fourth generation of the Huber family. Jack served two terms as president of the Real Estate Investors of Lancaster County. 

 Jack enjoyed traveling to Arcadia Florida, and had a keen interest in Koi Fish. Jack was always moving forward looking for projects to do, getting things accomplished, and helping people along the way. He had a servant’s heart, and loved his family deeply. He cherished all the time he could spend with his wife, children, and grandchildren. 

 Surviving in addition to his wife, Anna is a son, John D. husband of Lisa Huber of Lancaster, a daughter, Debra Ann wife of Don Landis of Lititz, five grandchildren: Ben, John, Jacob, Nathan, Anna, and five great grandchildren: Mia, John, Nora, Rosie, and Viola. Preceding him in death is a daughter, Gwendolyn “Wendy” Huber, and two grandchildren. 

 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jack’s Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, (Please use the East Entrance), on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be private in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Jack’s memory to Hospice & Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125, or Calvary Church Global Mission Fund, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.
