John Frank Bixler

May 21, 1921 — January 14, 2014

John Frank Bixler, 92, formerly of South Fulton Street, Manheim passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Ida Frank Bixler. He was the husband of May E. Heisey Bixler who died in 2000. John retired as a security guard at RR Donnelley & Sons, Lancaster. Previously, he worked as a foreman at the Bond Machine Foundry, Manheim. He graduated from Manheim High School in 1939 and proudly served in the United States Army during WW II where he received several ribbons and bronze stars. John was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Manheim and the Manheim Masonic Lodge #587. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and hiking.

Surviving is a daughter, Judith A. wife of David K. Amspacher of Davenport, Florida, three grandchildren, Joshua husband of Catherine Amspacher, Jennifer wife of Parker Yusko, Rachael wife of Nate Flickinger, three great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Beau Yusko and Mia Flickinger. He is also survived by his loving companion, Mary Peters of Manheim.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 90 South Charlotte Street, Manheim on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
