John D. Nissley

April 27, 1950 — March 14, 2016

John D. Nissley, 65, of Manheim passed peacefully into the arms of His Savior and Lord, on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Clayton R. husband of A. Martha Nissley of Lititz and the late Vera Becker Nissley.
He was the loving husband of G. Elaine (Martin) Nissley and they celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in November. John served two years in Voluntary Service in British Honduras (Belize). From 1976-1981 John and Elaine lived in Northwestern Ontario with their young family, serving the Lord with Northern Light Gospel Mission. John then owned and operated a dairy and poultry farm in Rapho Township. He and his wife also enjoyed twenty nine years of having a Bed & Breakfast on the family farm. John graduated from Manheim Central High School in 1968 and was a member of New Covenant Mennonite Fellowship. After farming, he enjoyed Amish taxi driving. He also loved the mountains, and spending time at Red Rock Cabin in Tioga County.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are six children, Michael Nissley of Houtzdale, Sherri wife of Ernest Zimmerman of Bowmansville, Steven Nissley, Joel husband of Keri (Nissley) Nissley both of Manheim, Julio Napoleonis of East Petersburg and Randall husband of Melanie (Martin) Nissley of Ephrata, seventeen grandchildren and a sister, Barbara wife of Marlin W. Good of Lititz. He was also survived by a daughter-in-law, Andrea Napoleonis of Ephrata. John was preceded in death by a brother, Jay W. Nissley and a sister, Mary Ellen August.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at New Covenant Mennonite Fellowship, 529 East Farmersville Road, New Holland on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in New Covenant Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in John’s memory to Christian Aid, P.O.
