John C. “Jack” Ritter, 79, formerly of Memorial Drive, Manheim passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Alma Shoemaker Ritter. He was the husband of the late Betty Jean George Ritter who died in 2007. Jack retired from the Manheim Borough Authority where he worked in the maintenance department. Earlier in life, he was a raw fur buyer in Manheim. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jack was a member of the National Cane Club, Manheim Historical Society and Lancaster County Woodcarvers. His interests included hunting, fishing and woodcarving.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon K. Ritter of Manheim, Renee A. wife of Jan Jurell of Lititz, a son, Shawn P. husband of Robin Heagy Ritter of Manheim, two grandsons, Travis Jurell of Fort Worth, Texas, Taylor Jurell of Philadelphia and a niece, Sandi Boose of Mount Joy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty J. Nissley.
