John B. Grube Jr., 77, of Manheim, died rather suddenly on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz, following a lengthy illness. Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late John B. and Mary Rebecca Gable Grube. John was a truck driver for over 45 years, and was the owner and operator of the former John B. Grube Sand Company Manheim. He was the loving husband of Fay Ann Buckwalter Grube and they observed their 56th wedding anniversary in September of this year. In his early years, he was an active member of the Grace Brethren Church of Manheim where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and as a Deacon on the Church Board. Most recently John and Fay attended the Grace Brethren Church of Elizabethtown. John was a member of the Manheim Sportsman Association. His interests included: hunting, vegetable gardening, bird watching, attending public auctions, and watching sports. He had a life-long passion for his family and enjoyed participating in family activities. Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, J. Dennis husband of Kathy LaRue Grube of Meyersdale, a daughter, Deb A. wife of Keith A. Garner of Manheim, five grandchildren: Katie wife of Kevin Howard, Becky and Sarah Grube, Whitney and Benjamin Garner, two brothers: Joseph husband of Mary Jane Grube of Lancaster, James husband of Doris Grube of New Providence, and a sister, Margaret Grube DePew of Mount Joy. Preceding him in death is a sister, Mary Douglas. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John's Celebration of Life and Remembrance Service from the Grace Brethren Church of Manheim 333 East High Street, Manheim on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment is in Longenecker's Brethren Cemetery, Warwick Township. Friends may visit with the family at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Sunday afternoon from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM with additional time of visitation at the Grace Brethren Church of Manheim on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
