Joanne H. Myer, 70, of Manheim, went home to be with her Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Hershey, she was a daughter of Orpha Hosler Foreman of Manheim, and the late Harrison Foreman. Joanne was the loving wife of Gerald L. Myer and they would have observed their 50th wedding anniversary in October of this year. Throughout her life she helped her husband on the family farm in Penn Township. Joanne was an active and faithful member of the White Oak Church of the Brethren, Manheim, and served on various committees of the church. She also volunteered for many organizations and committees in the Manheim area. Her interests included: flower gardening, and cooking. Joanne’s life’s focus and passion was her family; she opened her home and heart for family picnics, meals, and loved family gatherings. She had a servant’s heart and helped many people in a quiet way.
Surviving in addition to her husband, and mother, are two sons: Darvin E. husband of Kellie Myer, and Kerry L. Myer all of Manheim, two grandchildren: Kelby and Harrison Myer, a sister, Darlene wife of Leroy Shonk of Mount Joy, and a brother, Lynn Foreman of Manheim. Preceding her in death is a brother, Glen Foreman.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the White Oak Church of the Brethren 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:30 AM.
