Joan H. Hall, 83, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Masonic Health Care Center, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, where she was a resident.
She was the loving wife of William C. “Bill” Hall, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage in December 2014. Born in Mahanoy City, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hilda (Bankes) Williams. Joan had worked part-time, but she enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her husband and children. She was a member of the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel at Masonic Village, and was a former member and choir member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church. Joan was a Past Worthy Matron, Capital City Chapter O.E.S. Joan enjoyed quilting, and was known throughout the area for the “Bible Quilt” which she designed. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the United States and parts of Europe.
Surviving in addition to her husband: a son, William C. Jr., husband of Deborah Hall of Wellsville; a daughter, Cynthia, wife of James Florig of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren: Dianne, wife of Richard Elwell; Karin Hall; Jennifer, wife of Martin Gutzweiler; three great-grandchildren: Max and Kate Elwell, Noah Gutzweiler; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Fisher of Mechanicsburg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sons: Thomas, Kenneth, and James Hall.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel on the grounds at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 10:30 AM. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Saturday at the Chapel from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
